VISIT THE MUSEUM
Immerse yourself in Ventura County's Rich History

The California Oil Museum highlights the history and inner workings of the state's "black gold" industry, as well as branches into the future of energy with renewable energy.  The Museum features hands-on, interactive exhibits, videos, models, photographs, and memorabilia, and rotating STEM and history exhibits. We also have a separate building that holds a working 1900s oil rig. Learn about the history and science of oil in California, as well as experience our rotating exhibits revolving science, history, and renewable energy!

VISIT THE MUSEUM's
Energy Education Lab
"Moving towards a shared energy future, together"

The California Oil Museum's Energy Education Lab offers fun and educational activities for the whole family!  We offer inactive science displays involving rocks, minerals, fossils, soils, sands, and oil, and renewable energy. 

 

We also offer arts & crafts, a library of science-centered books, and the opportunity to share your artwork on our art wall.  Participate in our fossil dig, examine rocks and minerals through the microscope, or browse through our books. We will see you in the lab, as the Museum continues its expansion in including alternative energy!

The Museum is supported by the annual memberships of individuals, families, businesses, foundations, non-profits, trade associations, community groups, and private organizations.Become a member today!

Museum Docents volunteer their time to serve in a wide variety of positions at the Museum. There is a volunteer opportunity available now in your area of interest!

Are you looking to earn college credit, gain experience for your resume, or acquire valuable skills? We have many intern opportunities available at the Museum.  Apply online now!

The goal of the Museum’s fundraising program is to raise $6 million for the California Oil Museum Endowment to support the core operations of the Museum. Donate today!
